In 1849, Josiah Thomas Carter — a shipbuilder from Port Republic, New Jersey — crossed to Brooklyn and built vessels that carried people and cargo across the ocean.

He built ocean-going vessels, working the coast to ports throughout the northeast.

Generations later, Joseph Thomas Carter III put the tools in his sons' hands.

Perfect Ship LLC is named in his honor.

A perfect ship is not the one that never takes water. It is the one built well enough to bring everyone home.
